Join Mu Mu Pi

To become a member of Mu Mu Pi, you must try out for the University of Wisconsin Marching Band with an alto or tenor saxophone (while there probably isn't any rule against bari saxes, I don't think the school has any "marching band quality" baris to loan you). "Reg week" tryouts usually begin the week before school starts; contact the Band office at (608) 263-1896, or click here for more information. You'll also need to sign up for an informal "part placement" audition -- even though there's only one sax part per horn. You must supply your own instrument for reg week (we recommend finding a horn that can take a beating).

There's also some useful information in the trombone section's freshmen primer. Basically, be sure you're in good physical shape, prepared, and ready to work harder than you probably ever have before.
